Monthly Theme – Jesus Cares For Us

Key Verse:“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy” (Titus 3:5a)

Our hope is for our kids to believe that: Jesus meets our needs

Read:
(Open the bible and read to your child Mark 10:46-52) Jesus often drew large crowds as he traveled to and from. On one of his journeys he was in Jericho, where he ran into a blind man named Bartimaeus. When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was nearby he began crying out “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus was busy trying to reach his next destination, and the crowds were massive! However the persistence of Bartimaeus really paid off, because Jesus heard his cry, and because of that Jesus healed him, telling Bartimaeus that his faith has made him well. It is interesting that Jesus asked Bartimaeus what his needs were. Jesus wants us to express our needs to Him.

Share:
(This is an opportunity for you to ask some questions and to share your thoughts) Parents: Choose a time to call each of your children on the phone at some point during the week. (If your children are too young to talk on the phone, set aside a couple of minutes to have a conversation with them one on one.) Spend a few minutes focusing on each child, and tell your children why you love and care for them. Remind your children that even though sometimes you might seem to busy to listen, God is always listening. Offer to pray for something that concerns your child, and remind him or her that God wants to meet all our needs.

Activity/Challenge for Families:
Over a family meal, discuss some of the stories about mercy that you’ve heard. Then discuss the ways you’ve experienced God’s mercy in the past month.
