Monthly Theme – God sent Jesus to save us

Key Verse:“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”
(John 3:16)

Our hope is for our kids to believe that: God loves our worship

(Open the bible and read to your child John 2:13-22) Jesus loves the church, in fact the church is called the bride of Christ. So we can understand why Jesus became angry when he saw the leaders of the church being dishonest with the people going to the church. Back then as part of worship, people needed animals that were perfect and without blemish. The leaders would tell them the animals they brought weren’t perfect, which would cause them to purchase their animals at a much higher price. Jesus loves our worship, and he doesn’t want any stumbling block in our way of worshiping him. This is why Jesus overturned their tables and drove out all the animals. The church was made as a place for worship, safe for all who attend. Jesus did not want anything to hinder that.

(This is an opportunity for you to ask some questions and to share your thoughts) Parents: Talk about a time in church when something funny happened during worship, and your entire family was distracted. Maybe someone fell asleep and was snoring loudly, or maybe the worship team got mixed up about which song to play. Then talk about the things that most commonly distract you when you worship, such as thinking about your upcoming week or watching other people around you. Discuss ways you can help each other stay focused on worship and God.

Activity/Challenge for Families:
Brainstorm with your child different ways that you can worship God together, such as going to church, singing a song, praying, dancing to praise music, or doing something kind for someone. Write one idea for each day of the week on  piece of paper, and put the papers in a bible or daily devotional, and then draw out one of the slips and do the worship activity together.
