Read:
(Open the bible and read to your child Mark 16:1-8) Today is Easter and it has a very special meaning that you may not know about. Some think Easter is all about candy, eggs, and bunnies but Easter is about our Lord Jesus. Jesus came to this earth to die on the cross for all of our sins. However, he didn’t stay dead. He was buried in a tomb and came back to life! God’s power to free us was revealed when Jesus came back to life again. Jesus shed his blood to cover our sins, but he defeated those sins and had power over death when he came back to life. It is because of Easter, the day that Jesus rose from the dead, that we can spend eternity with Him when we place our trust in Him. Jesus Christ has risen! He has risen indeed!

Share:
(This is an opportunity for you to ask some questions and to share your thoughts) Parents: As your family enjoys Easter dinner, talk about family Easter traditions. Discuss which traditions are just for fun and which really help you remember why you’re celebrating Easter. Then talk about why Easter is a cause for celebration. Ask family members to think up new traditions that will honor Jesus’ resurrection.

Activity/Challenge for Families:
As a family, plan various ways to celebrate Easter each year and start your own family traditions. For example, during the week before Easter Sunday, you might want to have at your dinner table plastic Easter eggs with different verses of Scripture inside. Each night at dinner, a different family member may choose an egg and then read the Scripture aloud. Then talk about things your family can do this week to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.
