Let us Give Thanks

Key Verse: “Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done”
(1 Chronicles 16:8)

Our hope is for our kids to know that: We can have faith that God will do big things in our lives.

(Open the bible and read to your child Joshua 2:1-24) It was time for the Israelites to go into battle with the people of Canaan. In preparation, Joshua sent spies into the land first. Remembering the last time spies were sent from among the Israelites and how that turned out, Joshua just sent two. The spies were saved by Rahab, who made them promise that her and her household would be saved when they attacked. Because of this Rahab is commended for her faith in Hebrews 11:31.

(This is an opportunity for you to ask some questions and to share your thoughts) Parents: Talk with your kids about areas in your life where your faith is strong and areas where you need God to help you grow in your faith. Then ask your kids to think of areas in their own lives where they need God to help them grow in their faith. For example, maybe they need to trust God in their school work, or maybe they need to ask God to help them in their relationships. Then talk about one way each of you can commit to showing God that you trust him to do big things in that area of your life.

Activity/Challenge for Families:
This week bake cookies or some other treat as a family. Then take the treats to a neighbor or friend and spend time with them. If an opportunity arises to allow you to share your faith then go for it! However, do not force it, your gesture will speak volumes about your faith.
