The Birth of Jesus

Our hope is for our kids to know that: In the Fullness of time, God sent forth His Son

14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14

Read:
(Open the bible and read to your child Luke 2:1-20) Joseph and Mary had to travel to Bethlehem because of a census. This was all part of God’s plan, that the son of man would be born in the city of David. The angels appeared to the shepherds and announced that a savior has been born in Bethlehem. After listening to the heavenly choir of angels, the shepherds made their way to see the new born baby Jesus. Shortly after the birth King Herod devised a plan to kill Jesus. He looked at this newborn as a threat to his Kingship. However, this did not work. Nothing could stop God’s plan for us, to receive forgiveness and redemption through Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Jesus Connection:
Though Jesus was King, he did not come in a full display of his glory, might, and power. Instead he came in humility that he might become a servant of all, dying on the cross for our sins. This humility was evident from his birth, where he was born in a stable and placed in a manger. Jesus gave up his glory to come to earth because he loved us. Later, he would die for our sins so we could be saved from the penalty of sin. Isn’t it amazing that God himself came as a baby?
It was this baby that the wise men announced as the answer to the Old Testament prophecies (Matthew 2:5–6). The shepherds heard directly from heaven through the angels that the baby “wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger,” was the Savior (Luke 2:12).
